About Ras El Hanout
Ras el Hanout is a popular Moroccan spice blend for which there are MANY variations. Some contain as many as 100 different spices! Our Ras el Hanout blend contains many of the same ingredients you'd expect in a curry (mustard, cumin, turmeric, coriander, cardamom) as well as lavender and rose petals that give it a floral aroma and complex flavor profile.
Ras el Hanout is often used to season meats including chicken, beef, and lamb. It's also a great addition to rice, couscous or vegetable dishes. You might see this blend called for in recipes for tagine — a Moroccan tagine is a cone-shaped cooking vessel that's basically a slow cooker, but the word "tagine" also refers to the stews made in this vessel.
Our Ras el Hanout blend is salt-free.
Why salt-free? First of all, you’re paying for a blend of spices. If half of it is actually just salt, you’re not getting much bang for your buck. Secondly, everyone has different salt preferences — this lets you dial it in to your taste.
