About Jamaican Jerk Seasoning
Jamaican jerk spice is a popular Caribbean spice blend used to season meats for grilling or slow cooking. Jerk chicken is probably the most well known Jamaican dish using this blend, but it can also be used to season pork, beef, shrimp, fish, vegetables and more. Some people use it to make Jamaican jerk burgers!
Our Jamaican Jerk Seasoning is a blend of 10+ herbs and spices plus bits of sugar and scotch bonnet chile pepper. (Scotch bonnet is pretty spicy and registers just below the Habanero pepper on the Scoville Heat Scale for chile peppers.) This spice blend does not contain salt.
Why salt-free? First of all, you’re paying for a blend of spices. If half of it is actually just salt, you’re not getting much bang for your buck. Secondly, everyone has different salt preferences — this lets you dial it in to your taste.
