Whenever I’m tired of a traditional fruit smoothie and want something a little more festive, I make this pumpkin pie smoothie. All you have to do is keep a can of pumpkin purée in the pantry and freeze a few bananas in preparation. With a dash of our Pumpkin Pie Spice, this pumpkin smoothie is a healthy treat that basically tastes like dessert.
Makes: 2 small smoothie or 1 jumbo smoothie
Total time: 10 minutes
1 frozen banana
½ C pumpkin purée (I use canned)
½ C plain 2% greek yogurt
⅔ C 1% milk
1 T maple syrup
½ tsp pumpkin pie spice
Optional: scoop of your favorite protein powder
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until everything is puréed and chunks are gone. If you don’t have a frozen banana, you can use a fresh one but you’ll want to add a few pieces of ice to give your smoothies a cold temp.
